We recently needed to go to the Galleria shopping mall in Houston, TX when we passed by a Capital One Café and noticed a Peet’s Coffee was inside the café! We’ve read a lot about these cafés, so we wanted to check it out while we were there, especially with a Peet’s Coffee inside! We’ve only been able to get Peet’s Coffee when traveling to San Francisco, and this was the first time we’ve seen a Peet’s Coffee in Texas!

So what are Capital One Cafés? They are basically coffee shops with some banking services that are operated in conjunction with Peet’s Coffee, where you can purchase coffee and certain food such as baked goods and sandwiches. Each location has “Café Ambassadors” that can answer your banking questions, ATMs available for you to withdraw cash, and community rooms that resemble meeting rooms but with more open space and less serious.

Houston’s first Capital One Café location recently opened in June 2022 on Level 2 of the Galleria, near the Apple store. The 6,300-square-foot space provides banking services, charging stations for mobile devices, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

The Capital One Café at the Galleria had several tables inside and the space was very nice and modern. Much nicer than the average Starbucks, although Starbucks Reserve are still the best! There was plenty of seating inside the café, including couches, chairs, and tables, and the area was kept very clean. The café was quiet inside and it provided a nice break to relax and escape from the bustle of the mall.

After exploring the space, we noticed there wasn’t much inside the café that resembled a bank. In fact, we had to really look around before finding anything related to banking, which were the ATM machines in the corner of the café. There were also one or two Café Ambassadors near the entrance, attentive and ready to assist anyone with their banking needs, but they will leave you alone to enjoy the café treats and complimentary amenities, which is what we prefer and appreciated.

The Capital One Café is open to all customers, regardless of whether they bank with Capital One, but customers with a Capital One credit or debit card can get 50% off any beverage! What’s even better? Capital One Cafés are running a special deal right now where you can get any drink for $1 every Friday – Sunday in August!

Our first visit to a Capital One Café was excellent, and we’ll be coming back the next time we’re in the area again!
