Fix Windows 10 / 11 keeps setting static DNS address

By

If you find Windows 10 or Windows 11 keeps setting your DNS setting to certain servers instead of automatically getting the DNS from your DHCP server, you can try the following fix:

  1. Run regedit.exe from the start menu
  2. Go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces
  3. Expand the node and delete all entries for “ProfileNameServer” or “NameServer” under any of the children nodes

Windows should now use the DNS entries from DHCP server.
