Convert Aruba AP-315 to IAP

Connecting cable to console port

Now you’ll need to connect your computer to the console port of the AP using your console cable. See above Prerequisite section about which cable to use for the console port.

You can access the console port on the back of your AP. For the AP-315, the console port is located under a rubber cover on the back of the device.

Here’s the pin out for the 310 Series from the Aruba documentation.

Connect to the pins of the console port using the female connectors of your extension cables, and then connect the other end of the cables to the TTL adapter board as follows:

AP Console PortTTL Adapter
GNDGND
RXTX
TXRX

You might not need to connect the pin for 3.3V. Try it without the 3.3V connection first, and then if it doesn’t work, retry with 3.3V connected.

Also note, the RX pin on the AP connects to the TX pin on the adapter, and the TX pin on the AP connects to the RX pin on the adapter.
